The LexGo Totally Awesome '80s Film Festival kicks off Feb. 27 with The Goonies, about a group of kids going on an adventure to find a pirate's treasure. It's a common theme in movies of that era (see: Stand by Me, Flight of the Navigator, Labyrinth)

We want to know:

What's the biggest adventure you ever went on as a kid?

Did you trek through the woods to find something you thought would be valuable or cool? Did you and friends sneak into a "haunted house"? What kind of adventure did you seek out with your friends.

Tell us your story. Email it to sshive@herald-leader.com (subject line: "1980s adventure"); tweet us a direct message (@LexGoKy) or with the hashtag #totallyawesome80s; or post a comment on our Facebook page, Facebook.com/lexgo.

The deadline is noon Tuesday.

We'll publish our favorites next Friday in Weekender.
