Jessamine County: Members of the military to be recognized Saturday

The Military Honors Committee of Jessamine County will recognize current, former and deceased members of the armed Forces at noon Saturday at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Keene.

Poetry, gospel singing at library

Local writer Laura Coulter will read her original poetry at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Jessamine County Public Library. At 4 p.m. the Gospel Word Missionary Church Praise Team will perform historic gospel songs from the days of slavery and talk about the meaning behind the lyrics. No registration is necessary. The Creative Art League will open its inaugural exhibit at the old jail with a reception from 5-8 p.m. Friday. The three-day exhibit continues from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and from 1-4 p.m. Sunday. The old jail is at 200 South Main Street in Nicholasville.

Annual pancake breakfast Saturday

The annual Rotary Club Pancake Breakfast will be 7-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Nicholasville Christian Church at Second and Maple streets. Cost for adults is $3; children under 12 years old are $1. Proceeds benefit the college scholarship fund for Jessamine County high school students.
