Toni Miles, a case manager at Bluegrass IMPACT, is counseling a single mother of two who needs $200 to pay her rent.

The mother's father died unexpectedly. He did not have life insurance and the family pooled its resources to pay the final medical and burial expenses.

She took several days of unpaid leave from her part-time job to help make the final arrangements.

Once the rent is paid she will be able to manage on income from her earnings, Supplemental Social Insurance benefits and food stamps.
