Lexington police released this surveillance photo of the suspect in the robbery of a U.S. Bank branch on Richmond Road.

Lexington police have obtained an arrest warrant for first-degree robbery and are searching for Christopher A. Schenk, 44, in connection with the Jan. 28 robbery at a U.S. Bank branch on Richmond Road, a news release said.

Police released photos of the robber immediately after the robbery, and on Tuesday, they named Schenk as the suspect.

Employees told police that the robber entered the bank at 2653 Richmond Road about 1:30 p.m. Jan. 28. He came in behind a teller who was returning from lunch. The robber then pointed a dark semi-automatic pistol at one of the tellers and demanded cash. Two tellers complied, and the suspect fled.

Investigators said Schenk could be in Lexington, Louisville or surrounding counties, police said. He is known to drive a maroon and brown 1999 Ford van with a Kentucky license plate of 464-LMZ.

Anyone who sees Schenk should call police at 859-258-3600 immediately. Schenk is considered armed and dangerous, police said.
