An investigation in Northern Kentucky has led to the arrest of 24 people who have been charged in connection with a prescription drug ring.

The investigation, coined Operation Family Vacation, was conducted over the past two years, according to a federal Drug Enforcement Administration release.

Arrests began Thursday morning. Police seized various prescription drugs, 27 firearms and more than $93,000 .

The organization made about $1,825,510 by distributing oxycodone in Northern Kentucky and Southern Ohio, according to the release.

Several vehicles and 11 rental properties that were owned by the suspects are being sought for forfeiture.

The defendants are charged with conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute oxycodone in Kenton and Campbell counties and the Cincinnati area, the release said. The charges carry a maximum of 20 years in prison.

The investigation included the DEA Cincinnati office, Northern Kentucky Strike force, Internal Revenue Service, United States Marshals Service and 13 police and sheriff's departments.
