Johnson County law enforcement officials found two bodies late Friday night that had been buried on a farm owned by a Johnson County couple who have been missing since September.

Johnson County Coroner J.R. Frisby said Saturday he believes the bodies are the couple, Larry and Sandra Blanton, but he is awaiting identification from autopsy reports from Frankfort. He said the bodies were decomposed.

Frisby said Johnson County Sheriff Dwayne Price received a tip Friday, and the bodies were recovered after 11:30 p.m. Frisby said he did not know if the tip resulted from a $10,000 reward family members had offered earlier this month.

The Johnson County sheriff's and coroner's offices participated in the recovery of the bodies, Frisby said. Price was not immediately available for comment. The digging for the bodies started about 8:30 p.m.

"They were found on the farm, behind the horse barn. They were buried underground," Frisby said.

Frisby said he does not yet know the cause of their deaths.

The coroner said the Blantons' disappearance was suspicious. He said Larry Blanton was 60 and his wife was 53.

Lexington's WLEX-TV reported that the couple's son, Willie Blanton, has been considered a person of interest in the case. He is in jail on unrelated charges.

Willie Blanton's girlfriend, Amanda Fannin, also has been considered a person of interest in the disappearance of the Blantons, WYMT-TV in Hazard reported. She has been in jail on drug charges.
