Published: February 23, 2013

A 37-year-old Danville man has been charged with murder in connection with the stabbing death of his grandfather.

Harold Long, 78, died last month at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital as a result of stab wounds he suffered in October. He had been stabbed in the neck several times at a home on Goggin Road in Danville.

His grandson, Charles Vanhook, was charged Oct. 5 with first-degree assault and kidnapping and has been held since then in the Boyle County Detention Center.

On Friday, a murder charge was added in connection with the case, jail officials said.
