We asked readers to tell us who the most influential person in the Lexington area is, and we received hundreds of responses. Today you see the ballot.

The names on the ballot appear in alphabetical order and represent the most popular suggestions among the responses.

Your job: Pick 13 people who are most influential. Deadline for voting is Friday. Among those mentioned but not making the ballot are Herald-Leader columnists Merlene Davis and Tom Eblen and editorial cartoonist Joel Pett. Others not making the ballot include Wyn Morris, proprietor of the Morris Book Shop; Chester Grundy, director of the Martin Luther King Cultural Center at the University of Kentucky; Realtor Whitney Pannell; and Kakie Urch, assistant professor at the school of journalism and telecommunications at the University of Kentucky.

One surprising omission was Tom Shelton, superintendent of Fayette County Public Schools. It's hard to imagine a most-influential ballot when the effusive Stu Silberman was superintendent that would not have included his name.

Another surprise was that UK men's basketball coach John Calipari was mentioned by more contributors than was UK President Eli Capilouto.

Not a single contributor mentioned potential actress and buzzed-over potential political candidate Ashley Judd.
