Arts and crafts retailer Hobby Lobby held a grand opening Monday for its Lexington store in the Hamburg shopping center.

The chain has stores at Brannon Crossing in Nicholasville and along the Eastern Bypass in Richmond, but this was its first in Lexington.

The 55,000-square-foot store is next to Sportsman's Warehouse, which is a similar size, on the end of Hamburg that faces Winchester Road.

Patrick Madden, a lawyer whose family has developed much of Hamburg, said previously that Hobby Lobby is "perfect to go next to Sportsman's because Sportsman's is mainly a male-driven crowd and Hobby Lobby is a female-, kid-driven crowd."
