A man from Berea has been charged with murder in the death of Ronnie King, the former mayor of Evarts in Harlan County.
Shelby L. Shell, 29, was arrested by the state police at 12:45 p.m. Monday at his home in Berea, according to a news release.
King, 59, was found dead inside his burning home on Kelly Street on the morning of Feb. 18.
An autopsy showed that he died of a single gunshot wound to the head.
Shell is charged with murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, first-degree arson and tampering with physical evidence.
He was being taken to the Harlan County Detention Center Monday afternoon.
