The North Lexington Family YMCA will host a LIVESTRONG at the YMCA benefit luncheon from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. March 7. The luncheon will celebrate the cancer survivors who have participated since the program's inception in 2011.
The event will also include a silent auction, with proceeds benefitting the North Lexington Family YMCA's annual giving campaign, which supports the Open Doors financial assistance program, which ensures that no one is turned away from Y membership or programs due to an inability to pay.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at any YMCA of Central Kentucky location or at ymcaofcentralky.org/register-programs.
Conference for grandparents raising children
The 11th Annual Bluegrass Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Conference is 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. March 21 at the Clarion Hotel, 1950 Newtown Pike. The conference is for grandparents/relatives and professionals and includes a variety of workshops on legal, financial, mental health and parenting topics.

Deadline today to nominate a hero
Nominations are due today for the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department Public Health Heroes Award. The award is for individuals who have demonstrated a dedication to improving the health of Lexington residents.
Criteria for the selection of the Public Health Heroes Award include exemplary leadership and diligence in promoting public health; remarkable contributions and support in fostering public health programs; and work or actions that have affected the community's health in a positive way and would not have occurred without the activities of the nominee.
To nominate someone, provide the following information: name, professional title and organization; phone number and email address of nominee; and examples of why the person is award-worthy. Y to host 3-on-3 basketball tourney
The North Lexington Family YMCA will hold a 3-on-3 basketball tournament March 16.
The double-elimination tournament will consist of three divisions: competitive, recreational and women. Teams can have a maximum of four players and the tournament is for adults ages 18 and over.
Cost is $30 per team with all proceeds benefitting the Y's annual giving campaign. An evening of klezmer music
