Nicholasville police are seeking the public's help in identifying a man who was killed by a train shortly after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The white man between ages 30 and 50 was struck by a Norfolk Southern train, said Officer Kevin Grimes, public information officer for the Nicholasville police.

The train, traveling toward Nicholasville from Lexington, had just come through the crossing at Baker Lane when the man was seen on the tracks. The train could not stop in time and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was wearing blue jeans and black sneakers with Velcro snaps, said Jessamine County Coroner Michael Hughes.

Anyone with information on the man's identity is asked to call Nicholasville police at (859) 885-9467.
