A Science Hill man died Thursday in a one-car accident in Pulaski County, officials said.

Travis New, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 8 a.m. crash, five miles north of Somerset on Ky. 1247, according to a news release from Pulaski County Sheriff Todd Wood.

The car that New was driving struck an embankment, went airborne and crashed into a utility pole, the news release said.

Evidence and witness statements indicated that speed was a factor, the news release said.
