Published: March 2, 2013

A clerk at a Lexington jewelry store was injured in a robbery Saturday afternoon.

Two men, one armed with a handgun, came into Alexandria's Jewelry, 1565 Alexandria Drive, at about 2 p.m. While one of the men sprayed mace in the store, the other hit the clerk on the head with a gun and fired a shot, said police Lt. Dean Marcum said.

The two left with an undetermined amount of jewelry.

Marcum said the clerk "was going to need some stitches in his head."
