A Lexington man was arrested Monday night after police say he was involved in five wrecks on the east side of town.
Police began getting calls about a white Jeep Cherokee at 9:55 p.m., said Lt. Eric Lowe.
The vehicle, driven by Vachroan Johnson, 38, first hit the Dairy Mart on Buckhorn Drive, causing minor damage to the building, Lowe said. Next, it was involved in a crash at Man o' War Boulevard and Richmond Road. Then the vehicle a sign at Glenn Hyundai on Richmond Road, followed by a parked car on South Eagle Creek Drive. Finally, it was driven through a fence at Squires Road and Dewey Drive.
Police said they then found Johnson and the SUV at the dead end of Tuscaloosa Lane.
Lowe said no one was injured, but there was "extensive damage" to the vehicle.
Johnson was charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of several accidents.
Asked how police tracked down the SUV, Lowe said: "They just followed the direction that the accidents were going in."
