Lex-Care: Veteran needs help to pay ambulance service

Published: March 6, 2013

A social worker at the Lexington Senior Citizen's Center is counseling a client who needs $177.77 to pay for ambulance services.

The client is a single man who is a WWII veteran and served in both the Army and Marine Corps. He has retired from civilian work. He lives alone and employs a caregiver who assists him with his daily living.

In February he developed a case of bronchitis serious enough that an ambulance had to transport him to the hospital. He has since recovered and returned home. Once that bill is taken care of he will be able to maintain his household.
