A Letcher County woman was killed Wednesday night in a two-vehicle collision on an ice-covered road, Kentucky State Police said Thursday.
Felecia Ramsey, 43, of Neon died at the scene of the crash on Ky. 119 in Whitesburg in Letcher County shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
Ramsey was traveling north when she lost control on ice. Her vehicle collided with a vehicle driven by Martha Ratliff, police said.
Ratliff suffered minor injuries, said Trooper Tony Watts, a spokesman for the Hazard post.
The Associated Press reported that nationwide, winter storms were responsible for at least four other deaths.
A tractor-trailer slid off a snow-covered interstate in western Wisconsin, killing two people. A central Indiana woman died when a tractor-trailer plowed into her car after she lost control merging onto the highway, and a man from Columbia City in northeast Indiana was killed when his snowmobile left a road, headed across a field and crashed into a wire fence, the AP reported.
