A Morehead State University sophomore died after being shot multiple times, and her boyfriend turned himself in to police, authorities said.
Casey R. Shay, 26, admitted to shooting Cassandra Owens, 21, early Wednesday in a bedroom at Owens' mobile home, according to a news release from Morehead police. Shay turned himself in Thursday after taking the couple's 3-year-old child to a relative's house Wednesday, according to the news release.
The child, now in the care of a grandparent, was not harmed.
Shay was charged with murder after he turned himself in Thursday at the Rowan County Detention Center.
