High school baseball event to benefit tornado victims

Sixteen high school baseball teams whose communities were affected by the 2012 tornadoes will participate in the Hits for Home Invitational at Whitaker Bank Ballpark this week

The Lexington Legends and Whitaker Bank are serving as hosts for the event. Proceeds will go to the Salvation Army, which will distribute funds to the communities.

Tickets are $5 per session, and prizes will be raffled off.

Wed: Elliott Co. vs. Menifee Co., 5 p.m.; Powell Co. vs. South Laurel, 7.

Thu.: Johnson Central vs. North Laurel, 5 p.m., Prestonsburg vs. Lawrence Co., 7.

Fri.: Hazard vs. Sheldon Clark, 5 p.m.; Montgomery Co. vs. Nicholas Co., 7.

Sat.: Wolfe Co. vs. Morgan Co., 11 a.m.; Paintsville vs. Bath Co., 7.
