There was no trauma on the body of man found Wednesday with two emaciated people in a Lexington hotel, the Fayette County Coroner's office said Friday in a news release.

Determination of the cause and manner of death for Gerald Lee Lakes, 24, is pending further testing and toxicology results, the coroner's office said.

The case gained attention after Lexington police opened a neglect investigation when the two emaciated adults were found Wednesday at the Knight's Inn motel on Stanton Way.

Authorities did not release the names or ages of the malnourished people.

Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said previously that investigators think one or both of the emaciated people "had either mental disabilities or a physical handicap." They were taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital for treatment.

Roberts previously said that detectives from the department's Special Victims Unit were investigating the condition of the two emaciated people. Roberts said Friday that no one had been charged.

Anya Weber, a spokeswoman for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services that oversees the protection of vulnerable adults, said via email this week that she could not confirm whether the Cabinet was investigating the case.
