An argument involving a Casey County couple ended with both the man and woman dead late Friday, Kentucky State Police said.

The incident occurred about 11:30 p.m. Friday at a residence on Little South Road at the Gravel Switch community in Casey County, according to the state police post at Columbia.

Troopers went to the scene after dispatchers received a report of shots being fired. Police said they arrived to find the bodies of Judith Duncil, 52, and George Merrick, 61, lying on the front porch of the house where Duncil had been living.

According to state police, Duncil and Merrick had been dating. Merrick apparently went to Duncil's residence Friday evening looking for her and an argument broke out, police said.

According to a police report, Merrick retrieved a rifle from his truck and shot Duncil, then turned the weapon on himself.

The case remains under investigation.
