Jessamine County: Equine center treats three rescued Arabian horses

March 27, 2013

Assistant barn manager Virginia Madelung tends to a rescued Arabian at the Kentucky Equine Humane Center.

The Kentucky Equine Humane Center is handling the care of three Arabian horses from the recent Woodford County animal cruelty case where dozens of dead and dying animals were discovered. The emaciated horses are receiving regular meals and veterinary attention. Once the horses are restored to health, they will be matched with adoptive homes.

The 72-acre rescue facility on Catnip Hill Road in Jessamine County has rehabilitated hundreds of horses since its founding in 2006, according to Executive Director Karen Gustin. The center operates on donations and receives no federal or state money. For information on how to volunteer, adopt or donate, visit Methodist church to present introduction to Islam
