Freshman catcher Greg Fettes reached base safely in all four trips to the plate and had a pair of hits, leading No. 8 Kentucky to an 8-2 win over Marshall on Wednesday afternoon at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

Kentucky (19-5) came back from a 2-0 deficit after three innings, scoring eight unanswered runs. Marshall fell to 10-13.

Fettes and shortstop Matt Reida led the Cats with two hits each, with Fettes getting a single, a double and two walks. The native of Madison Heights, Mich., is hitting .571 (8-for-14) with three doubles, three RBI and a .611 on-base percentage through his first seven collegiate games.

Reida went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a pair of runs scored. UK also got hits from Austin Cousino, Kyle Barrett, Zac Zellers and Thomas Bernal, with Bernal driving in a run and Zellers bringing home two.

Kentucky starter Chandler Shepherd worked three innings, allowing four singles and two runs, walking two and striking out two. Freshman Kyle Cody (2-1) took over in the fourth inning and worked two shutout innings, allowing a single and striking out one.

Freshman lefty Dylan Dwyer worked a shutout sixth, extending his streak of scoreless innings to open his career to seven innings.

Marshall starter Alex Thackston did not allow a hit until the fourth inning, when a pair of two-out hits ended his start and brought on Matt Margaritonda (0-4), who worked two innings and allowed four hits and five runs.
