Bicyclist killed while trying to cross Lexington road

A bicyclist died after being hit by a sport utility vehicle at Georgetown Road and Ironworks Pike on Monday evening.

The man, whose identity was not released Monday night, apparently was trying to cross Georgetown Road when he was hit by the inbound SUV, said Lt. Chris Young of the Lexington police.

The crash happened at about 5:40 p.m.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.
