RICHMOND — A commitment to Kentucky wasn't the only big Dominique Hawkins announcement Wednesday.
The newest Wildcat will also be playing in this year's Derby Festival Classic, his coach said shortly before Hawkins committed to UK.
The game will be played April 19 in Louisville's Freedom Hall.
Hawkins joins a lineup that already included UK signee Derek Willis, U of L signees Anton Gill and Akoy Agau, and three McDonald's All-Americans.
Lexington Catholic's Dillon Avare and North Oldham's David Levitch, who will walk on at Louisville, were also added to the game Wednesday.
The Derby Classic also announced an agreement for Under Armour to become the official shoe and apparel sponsor of the game, which has been played since 1973.
Event coordinator Mike Gandolfo said he hoped the deal would help the Derby Classic compete with the McDonald's and Jordan games.
"Under Armour is coming on full bore, and we're going to go toe to toe from now on," Gandolfo said. "It's going to be a whole different experience, hopefully, for us."
Hawkins and Willis will be the first UK commits to play in the game since Stacey Poole in 2010.
Others who have participated in past Derby Classics include Jamal Mashburn, Rex Chapman, Moses Malone, Isiah Thomas, Dominique Wilkins and Deron Williams.
