The hottest accessory this time of year in Kentucky is, of course, the hat. To help you find the perfect style, stores are hosting special events showcasing new spring designs.

■ New York milliner Christine A. Moore will be at the Keeneland Gift Shop at the racetrack, 4201 Versailles Road, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday for a trunk show. Moore and the shop's staff will help customers find the perfect style and fit for this year's hats.

■ Kentucky first lady Jane Beshear will be at Nitro of Frankfort at 3:15 p.m. Monday to help launch the store's annual Derby Hat Trunk Show. A portion of all hat proceeds will go to Horses and Hope, Beshear's initiative to bring better awareness of breast cancer to members of the horse industry. Nitro is at 220 West Main Street.

Jerome Boutique at 153 Patchen Drive will host a High Tea Derby Hat Bash from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The latest spring hat styles will be shown, and refreshments will be served.
