Students contribute to the restoration of historic Gorge cabin

April 11, 2013

Frenchburg Job Corps students are helping the U.S. Forest Service restore the historic Gladie cabin near the Gladie Learning Center in the Red River Gorge. They have helped remove parts of the deteriorating roof, and set up scaffolding to prepare for the installation of new handmade shakes, a type of wooden shingle. About 2,000 shakes have been made by volunteers at the site.
