Straight-line winds, not a tornado, caused damage Thursday night in the Montgomery County community of Camargo, a storm-damage survey team from the National Weather Service confirmed Friday.
The team looked at damage to roofs, barns and trees, said forecaster Pete Georgerian of the National Weather Service office at Jackson.
The damage occurred on Ficklin Road near Camargo between 6:55 and 7:05 p.m. Thursday. The winds peaked at 85 to 95mph, the Weather Service said in a news release.
Winds of that speed are "pretty stout," Georgerian said.
