Fayette coroner identifies suspected robber killed by victim

The Fayette Coroner's office has identified the suspect in an attempted armed robbery who was shot to death by the robbery victim.

Reginald Lee Howard, 54, of Lexington, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a preliminary autopsy report, the news release said.

The shooting occurred April 6 on West Second Street in Lexington. Police said the man approached another man sitting in a parked car and tried to rob him. The man in the car pulled out a gun and shot the would-be robber, police said.

Lexington police Sgt. Pete Ford said Tuesday that the case remained open.
