Two people were found dead by firefighters responding to a fire at a home in Perry County Friday night.

The man and woman had not been identified Saturday. Perry County coroner Jimmy L. Maggard said his staff had been unable to locate family for the two.

State police said in a news release officers were called to the scene when firefighters from the Avawam Fire Department found the body of the man outside the house at 4374 Couchtown Road in the Busy community. The fire was reported to state police at 7:19 p.m.

They found the woman's body inside the home while fighting the fire, the release said.

A cause of death had not been determined pending an autopsy, and the cause of the fire had not been determined Saturday. Maggard said he could not immediately comment on the state of the bodies.

Kentucky State Police Arson Investigator Clarence Gabbard was investigating.
