April 22, 2013

A man with a gunshot wound to the chest flagged down a Lexington police officer Monday night on Winchester Road.

The man, who was not identified, told police he had been driving in the area of Elkhorn and Winchester roads when two men on foot flagged him down. When he rolled down his window, the victim said, one of the men shot him in the chest, Lexington police Lt. Eric Lowe said.

The two men ran away, and the victim drove down Winchester Road and pulled up next to an officer at Owens Street at 9:37 p.m.

He was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition late Monday night, police Lt. Mark Brand said.

Police were seeking surveillance video from businesses along Elkhorn Road.
