Windstream restores phone service after widespread outage

April 29, 2013

Windstream phone services have been restored after a widespread outage Monday.

A statement on Windstream's website said service had been restored to "all but a handful of customers" as of 5:30 p.m.

The outage apparently began shortly before noon.

An announcement on Windstream's home page, Windstream.net said at the time: "Windstream's network operations and engineering teams are working a widespread outage affecting long-distance and toll-free call processing.

"This has also affected inbound calling to our support centers. Windstream is working with the manufacturer on a resolution to the issue."

The message also said there were "reports that local inbound and outbound calling might be disrupted for some customers."
