Kentucky's Joiner, Nunley earn All-SEC honors

Kentucky sophomore catcher Griffin Joiner and freshman pitcher Kelsey Nunley were honored by the Southeastern Conference on Tuesday for their performances this season.

Joiner was one of 12 players named to the All-SEC Second Team and one of nine players chosen for the All-Defensive Team.

Nunley was one of 13 players named to the SEC's All-Freshman Team.

Joiner, a Hopkinsville native, is batting .327 this season with 10 home runs and 27 runs scored. She leads the team with 13 doubles and 41 RBI. Behind the plate, Joiner is fielding at a .986 clip and has caught 14 of 55 base runners stealing, including 10 of 28 in SEC play.

Nunley (24-7) is the first pitcher in UK history to win 20 games in a season. She leads the Wildcats with a 2.01 ERA and has pitched a team-high 2231⁄3 innings, with 170 strikeouts. The native of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., has 19 complete games and three shutouts.
