Lexington police said a body found on the Picadome golf course Thursday is probably that of a woman who was reported missing last week.

Foul play is not suspected, but investigators are awaiting a ruling from the Fayette County coroner, police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said.

"The status of our investigation is ongoing until the coroner can determine a cause of death and give us some direction about how to proceed," she said.

A person picking up golf balls found the body about 11:30 a.m. near the 18th hole on the city-owned golf course, Roberts said.

The golf course — the Gay Brewer Jr. Course at Picadome — is near Red Mile, at South Broadway and Mason Headley Road.

The coroner's office had not identified the body Thursday afternoon, and police did not release the missing woman's name.

Roberts said the missing woman was in her 50s. She was reported missing by a relative.
