H. Dan O'Hair

Dan O'Hair, dean of the University of Kentucky College of Communication and Information, has withdrawn as a candidate for provost at the University of Montana and the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.

O'Hair had been named a finalist for the jobs at both universities.

"I am very appreciative that the University of Kentucky has been supportive of my involvement in this process," O'Hair said in a statement Friday. "The friends and colleagues here have made it impossible for me to leave one of the strongest, fastest-growing colleges at the university."

O'Hair has been a dean at UK since 2009 and the interim senior vice provost for student success since 2012. His wife is Mary John O'Hair, dean of UK's College of Education.
