Man found dead in Estill County after state police arrive to serve warrants

A 57-year-old man died of a gunshot wound at an Estill County residence Saturday night after Kentucky State Police arrived to serve him with arrest warrants.

Timothy Snowden of Paint Lick was pronounced dead at the scene by the Estill County coroner's office, according to the state police post at Richmond.

Police said the shooting occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday on JR Furniture Road in Estill County.

According to police, troopers went to the residence to serve Snowden with warrants for first-degree assault, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, and violation of emergency protection and domestic violence orders.

According to state police, the owner of the residence told trooper Jason Carpenter that Snowden was inside. Troopers were evacuating the homeowner when they heard a single gunshot.

Snowden was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound, state police said.

The case remains under investigation.
