Sun shines brightly on Lexington's Mayfest

May 12, 2013

It might not have been the warmest Mother's Day, but there was enough sunshine — and family fun — to make up for it at the Mayfest Arts Fair on Sunday.

In addition to artists' booths and food vendors, there were performances by musicians and dancers; a traditional maypole dance; and children's activities including pony rides, a petting zoo and crafts.

The two-day event, sponsored by the Downtown Lexington Corp., began Saturday. The fair has been at Gratz Park every year since it started in 1995 and usually coincides with Mother's Day.
