Two hurt, no suspects in separate shooting, stabbing in Lexington

May 13, 2013

Lexington police reported few details Monday about two separate violent attacks — a shooting and a stabbing — that occurred Sunday night.

At 10 p.m. Sunday, police were called to Samaritan Hospital after a man arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his jaw, Lexington police spokesman Sherelle Roberts said.

The victim, whose name wasn't released, said he was on Florence Avenue when someone shot him in the face. The victim gave no other details, Roberts said.

At 11 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to Tonita Bar on Winchester Road. The bar management reported that two large groups began to fight in the restroom.

As the men were dispersing, one man was seen with a large knife. Another man had a stomach wound and was bleeding badly. That victim fled, Roberts said. No other details about the assailant or the victim were available Monday.

WKYT-TV reported that the victim later showed up at St. Joseph Hospital on Harrodsburg Road about 1 a.m. The victim, WKYT said, was unable to give a description of his attacker, and no arrests have been made.
