Bourbon n' Toulouse restaurant was scheduled to reopen Tuesday after running out of food "due to the overwhelming success" of the inaugural Crawfish Festival that it co-sponsored Saturday at the Red Mile, according to a co-owner.

Within two hours Saturday, organizers ran out of 1,500 pounds of crawfish ordered for the seven-hour event, Bourbon n' Toulouse co-owner Kevin Heathcoat said in an interview Monday. Employees got more food from the restaurant, he said.

"We sold all the food we had cooked for the festival, and then went back three times and got every bit of food we had in the restaurant," Heathcoat posted on the restaurant's Facebook page.

"We know a lot of people were frustrated because we ran out of crawfish early as well as some other dishes. ... Please understand that this was so much bigger than we ever expected in our wildest dreams," Heathcoat said.

Saturday's event, also organized by Bayou Bluegrass Catering and Regard Law Group, drew an estimated 2,500 people, Matt Falcone, owner of Bayou Bluegrass Catering said.

Falcone said the crawfish order was based on an estimation that 1,500 people would attend.

"We now know what to expect for next year and we will be prepared," Heathcoat said on the Facebook page.
