A Lexington restaurant closed Wednesday after scoring a 59 on its Fayette County Health Department inspection.

Yamamoto Japanese Grill & Sushi, 130 West Tiverton Way in south Lexington, was closed after a health department inspection cited it for violations including:

■ Potentially hazardous food not date-marked

■ Raw chicken thawing at room temperature

■ Sushi chef preparing sushi without gloves

■ Cloth aprons used to cover steak and vegetables

■ No hand towels at hand sink

■ Ceiling tiles broken

■ Spray bottles not labeled, unapproved bug spray in kitchen

■ No certified food manager present

The restaurant will remain closed until at least Tuesday, pending a conference with the owners addressing the restaurant's deficiencies.

The restaurant had received a 99 at a previous inspection in December.
