Several local media companies, including the Lexington Herald-Leader, are teaming up with the Bluegrass Chapter of the American Red Cross to raise money for tornado relief in Oklahoma.

Terry Burkhart, CEO of the Bluegrass Chapter, said their thoughts and sympathies are with those who suffered through the storms or lost loved ones.

"Red Cross disaster teams are working around the clock to help the thousands of people whose lives are turned upside down. More Red Cross assistance is on the way," he said.

The Bluegrass Chapter has sent two local volunteers to the tornado-torn area and is making arrangements for more, according to a news release.

Other partners include: WLEX (Channel 18), WKYT (Channel 27), WTVQ Channel 36), WDKY (Channel 56), Clear Channel Communications, Cumulus Broadcasting, LM Communications and Smiley Pete Publishing.
