Storm knocks out power in Lexington; Nicholasville Road hit

Power outages were reported in Lexington Tuesday evening after storms blew through.

Police officers were dispatched to the Nicholasville Road corridor to direct traffic because traffic lights were out.

As of about 6:15 p.m., 7,209 KU customers were without power in Fayette County. Of those, 4,671 were in the 40517 zip code, and 2,204 were in the 40503 zip code.

There were also 3,194 customers without power in the area around Corbin, KU said.
