May 23, 2013

The original Planet of the Apes, Charlton Heston and Kim Hunter, airs Saturday on KET.

Friday: Beware of giant slugs. In the first of a two-part series finale of Merlin, Morgana and Mordred (Katie McGrath, Alexander Vlahos) use one of the creepy crawlers to rob our hero (Colin Morgan) of his magic. 10 p.m., Syfy.

Saturday: The Ultimate BBQ Cookout Countdown sounds like a tasty treat. It's an extensive search for great grilling that includes stops in Alabama, Texas, Connecticut, Tennessee and California. Hmmmm. Did they miss a state? 9 p.m., ABC.

Saturday: KET's movie classics goes old-school sci-fi this week with the original Planet of the Apes (1968) starring Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowall and Kim Hunter. 9 p.m., KET.

Sunday: Arrested Development returns after seven years with all 15 episodes of Season 4 available on Netflix, continuing a quickly growing trend that started with Netflix's House of Cards. Each episode reportedly will focus on the latest with one the Bluths, and it is all setting up a movie. Netflix.

Sunday: How big an audience was there for backstage Broadway drama? Not enough to keep once-promising Smash going. The series bows out with its grand finale. 9 p.m., NBC.
