John Calipari has a respect for University of Kentucky basketball history that extends even to some of its darker corners.

The UK coach said in an interview with the Tulsa World this week that he has invited former Wildcats coach Eddie Sutton back into the fold.

Sutton, a College Basketball Hall of Famer, lives in Tulsa, Okla., where Calipari is scheduled to make an appearance next week.

Sutton resigned from Kentucky under pressure in 1989 after a 13-19 season and amid allegations of NCAA wrongdoing, although he was not cited in any charges.

"I said, 'Come on in, man. Come on in to practice.'" Calipari told the Tulsa World. "I'm not into all that other stuff. My whole thing is Eddie Sutton has been great for the game of basketball and great for college coaches and has helped many, many programs."
