@herald-leader.comJune 4, 2013

Kentucky State Police are asking Nelson County residents to contact investigators if they had trees trimmed or removed from their property about the time that Bardstown Police Officer Jason Ellis was killed.

Ellis, 33, was killed May 25 in what police called an ambush at an exit off the Bluegrass Parkway. He had stopped to remove some debris in the road when he was shot multiple times with a shotgun by an unknown assailant. Police have no suspects, and the reward is up to $125,000.

Detectives are asking people to call Post 4 at (270) 766-5078 or email norman.chaffins@ky.gov if they have information.

Residents can also go to Kentuckystatepolice.org for the Text-A-Tip line.
