Police are looking for a man they say fired shots at a Central Kentucky police officer during an attempted traffic stop.

The Nicholasville police officer wasn't injured during the incident that happened about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, according to police Lt. Henry Blades.

The officer tried to stop a man on a motorcycle on U.S. 27, near the old drag strip in Jessamine County, when the motorcyclist fired gunshots and turned into the drag strip, now lined with businesses and warehouses.

Police from Lexington, Nicholasville and Wilmore were called in to help as officers searched for the suspect.

The drag strip is a dead end. Police think the suspect pulled into one of the warehouses and hid there.

Blades could not get into the specifics of the police hunt, but said officers were continuing to look for the man.
