Nicholasville police are investigating the second early morning shooting in as many days, but they do not think the shootings are related.

Police responded early Sunday to a report of a man with a gunshot wound to the neck on Rebel Road. The man, who has not been identified, was taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. According to Nicholasville police spokesman Kevin Grimes, the victim's last known condition was critical.

Early Saturday, a man on a motorcycle shot at a Nicholasville police officer during an attempted traffic stop.

"We do not think there is any relationship between these two incidents," Grimes said Sunday.

Nicholasville police continue to investigate both shootings.
