Kentucky State Police have found an inmate who escaped from the Floyd County Courthouse after a preliminary hearing, authorities said.

Scottie R. Bradley, 31, of Blue River, who bolted Tuesday, was arrested at 9:34 p.m. Wednesday after witnesses told police that an unidentified man was trying to flag down traffic on U.S. 23 in the Water Gap community, state police spokesman Trooper Shaun Little said.

Bradley escaped as he was being transferred from the courthouse to the Floyd County jail after a hearing on charges of robbing a convenience store and other offenses.

His jail jumpsuit was found in Prestonsburg near the Big Sandy River, Little said.

Bradley had a felony conviction, and police had urged the public to use caution if they saw Bradley, Little said.
