Lexington police arrested a Georgetown woman Sunday after a child in her care was found in a hot car outside the Old Navy store at Hamburg about 2 p.m.

Lt. Chris Young said Jill Nowlin was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor after someone called police because a 4-year-old girl and a dog had been left in a car Sunday afternoon as temperatures climbed near 90 degrees. The car windows had been left down, Young said. Nowlin was found inside the store.

The girl, apparently Nowlin's daughter, was unharmed and went home with family members, Young said.
