Crash kills Clark County couple

June 24, 2013

A Clark County couple were killed Sunday afternoon in a three-car accident in Mason County, Sheriff Patrick Boggs said.

Joseph Mathis, 67, and his wife Donna Mathis, 62, of Winchester were pronounced dead at the scene, Boggs said.

Robert Kidd was driving north on U.S. 68 in Mason County about 4:45 p.m. when his truck was hit from behind by a truck driven by a Tennessee man, Boggs said.

Kidd's vehicle was knocked into the southbound lane, into the path of the Mathises' car.

Kidd was flown to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he was in fair condition Monday. A passenger in Kidd's car, John Bryant, was treated and released from Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Mason County, Boggs said.
